Layer composer

Put a thing together from layers: a shape, a text, a picture of the library or your own. Every layer has its own filament colour and lies a little higher than the one under it.

Input

Start from a preset
Layers (the top one is the one that lies highest)

Tap a layer here or right in the preview. In the preview, drag it to move it, drag a corner of its frame to resize it and the knob above it to turn it. The arrows change what lies on what.

It prints flat, face up, without supports. The layers lie one on another, so each colour is a filament change at a height the project carries; what lies apart is tied by a bridge.

Layer composer: a shape, a text and a picture on one another

The tool is for things made of several elements: a name on a cloud with a star, a cake topper with a number and a name, a heart with a word for the keys. A composition has up to twelve layers. A layer is a text in one of thirty typefaces, a picture from the library of silhouettes or one of your own, or a shape (a rectangle, a circle, a heart, a cloud, a star and more). For each you set the width, the position, the turn and a colour from the filaments we have on the farm.

The layers lie one on another in the order of the list: the lowest is the plate, every next one is 0.4 to 1.6 mm higher. Under every layer the lower ones are filled up, so at each height of the print there is one colour and colours change by swapping filament at given heights; our farm prints up to four colours in one print. What you lay apart the tool ties with a bridge, so the print holds together. A finished composition takes an eyelet to hang it by, or the sticks of a cake topper.

How it works

  1. Start from a preset. A name on a cloud, a cake topper, or a pendant with a name. Then put your own texts and colours in.
  2. Edit the layers. Tap a layer in the list or in the preview and change its text, typeface, picture, shape and colour. In the preview you drag it to move it, drag a corner of its frame to resize it and the knob to turn it. The arrows change what lies on what.
  3. Add more. The buttons add a text, a picture (from the library or your own) or a shape. A layer can be duplicated, hidden and removed.
  4. Order a print or download. Next to the preview you see the dimensions; the calculation after "Continue" shows the precise price. The model and the slicer project with the colour changes are free to download without an account.

Common questions

Can I grab a layer and drag it with the mouse?

Not yet. You set the position, the width and the turn with the sliders of the chosen layer, and the preview is recomputed after every change. Dragging in the preview itself is in the works.

How many colours can I use?

Every layer can have its own colour, and there are twelve layers at most. Our farm prints at most four different colours in one print; a composition with more is yours to download as a project with filament changes for your own printer.

What if the layers do not touch?

The tool ties them with a short bridge in the lowest layer and says so. To hide the bridge, put a shape underneath that carries them all.

Can I use my own picture?

Yes. In a "Picture" layer you upload an SVG, PNG or JPG, or pick from the library (178 silhouettes). A layer has one colour, so what stays of the picture is its silhouette; a picture in several colours is the job of the Pendant or the Ornament tool.

How big can a composition be?

A layer can be 5 to 250 mm wide. The preview checks whether the whole fits a 250 mm bed, and for a topper it adds the length of the sticks.

How do I pay and how do I get the print?

You pay from prepaid credit that you top up by card; prices are shown in Czech crowns or in euros. We send the print through Packeta to a pick-up point or to an address in the EU.
