Medal for the winners, on a chain
A medal for the winners: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, with a chain. A gold, silver or bronze medal with a red number and rim, flush with the plate or raised; a chain of links that snap into one another is printed right next to it.
Material and quantity
The calculation shows the exact price and print time, and you can download the model or a project for your printer. No sign-up.
A flush motif prints face down: two colours in the same layers, one plate on a printer with a spool changer. A raised one prints face up with one change of filament. The links are round; hook them into one another and the first one into the eyelet. A chain of hard plastic is not for the necks of small children without supervision.
Medal for the winners on a chain: gold, silver and bronze
The tool makes a medal for the winners of a children's race, a tournament, a school contest or a kids' day. One click chooses 1st, 2nd or 3rd place: a gold, silver or bronze medal and chain with a red number and rim. You can change the number, a name in two lines of up to 16 characters or your own picture, and the colours and the size of the motif too. The plate comes in seven shapes: circle, star, hexagon, octagon, shield, a rosette with a scalloped edge and a heart, 40 to 120 mm wide, 60 mm to begin with.
The motif is flush to begin with: level with the plate and printed against the bed, so it comes out as smooth as the plate. The two colours lie side by side in the same layers; a printer with a spool changer prints them in one plate. The other choice is a raised motif that stands out 0.6 mm and changes colour by height. The 2 mm rim in the motif's colour can be switched off. A chain is printed next to the medal: 40 links to begin with, round 4 mm bars that snap into one another. Forty links make a chain of about 88 cm, and with a 60 mm medal they fit one bed of 220 × 220 mm.
How it works
- Choose the place. 1st, 2nd or 3rd place: a gold, silver or bronze medal and chain, a red number and rim. You can still change the number, a name, a picture and the colours.
- Pick the motif, shape and size. A flush or a raised motif; its size as a share of the width; a rim or none. The shape: circle, star, hexagon, octagon, shield, rosette or heart, 40 to 120 mm wide.
- Set the length of the chain. From 0 to 80 links, 40 to begin with. Under the preview you read how many links fit the bed and how long a chain they make.
- Order the print or download. Next to the preview you see the dimensions; the exact price is shown by the calculator after "Continue". The model and the slicer project download for free, without signing up.
What the tool can make
Common questions
What is the difference between a flush and a raised motif?
A flush motif lies in the bottom three layers (0.6 mm) beside the plate and is printed against the bed: the face of the medal is smooth, the motif level with the plate. The printer switches between two spools in the same layers, so we print it in one plate on a printer with a spool changer. A raised motif stands 0.6 mm out of the plate, and the printer changes filament once, at the height where the motif starts.
What colours do the places have?
1st place gold PLA Silk, 2nd place silver PLA Silk, 3rd place bronze (metallic when we have it loaded, otherwise copper PLA Silk). The medal and the chain are in the metal colour, the number and the rim red. When ordering you choose from the spools loaded in the printers right now.
How long a chain do I need?
For a child 60 to 70 cm will do, that is 28 to 32 links; for an adult 80 to 90 cm, that is 36 to 40 links. The chain goes over the head, it has no clasp.
How do the links join?
Each link is an oval of 30 × 18 mm with a round 4 mm bar and a gap in the middle of a long side. The gap is a little under half a millimetre narrower than the link, so the neighbour snaps in. Underneath, the link stands on a narrow flat and the rounding starts at 45°, so it prints without supports.
Does it all fit one bed?
Yes. A 60 mm medal with forty links takes 195 × 176 mm, and even a 120 mm medal with forty links fits a bed of 220 × 220 mm. If you ask for more links than fit, the tool prints as many as fit and says so.
Is the chain safe for small children?
It is made of hard plastic and does not open by itself when pulled, so it is not for the necks of children under three nor for climbing frames without supervision. For the youngest put the medal on a ribbon: set the number of links to zero.
