Soap dish from your own model
Upload a model of a bar of soap, a die, a phone, anything that is to lie in a dish, and get a dish made to its footprint: a pocket of the model's outline plus play, a wall, a floor with a drain. The model itself is not printed.
Material and quantity
The calculation shows the exact price and print time, and you can download the model or a project for your printer. No sign-up.
Prints floor down without supports. Grooves and the grid go through the floor and the water runs out; ribs carry the bar above the floor and the water runs to four holes in the corners. 2 mm of play is enough to take a wet bar out.
A soap dish or tray made to the footprint of your model
The tool takes the model you upload, measures its outline seen from above (or its bottom, as it stands) and builds a dish round it: a pocket of the outline grown by the play, a wall of the thickness and height you set, and a floor with a drain. It suits a bar of soap from a mould, an odd-shaped bar, but just as well a phone, a remote control or stones; the model itself is not part of the result.
You choose the drain: grooves or a grid through the floor, ribs the bar lies on above the floor with the water running to holes in the corners, or a solid floor for small things. Play 0.5 to 6 mm, wall 1.2 to 6 mm, wall height 8 to 60 mm. The dish takes a few seconds and opens in the preview with its size; download it for free, or after "Continue" see the price and order the print from us.
How it works
- Upload a model. STL, 3MF or OBJ of what is to lie in the dish. The tool stands it on the bed.
- Choose the footprint and the drain. The whole model's outline from above, or its bottom only. Grooves, a grid, ribs, or a solid floor.
- Set the play, the wall and the height. The play round the model, the thickness of the wall and the floor, the wall's height above the floor.
- Create the dish. Click "Make the dish". A few seconds later it opens with its size and its drain.
Common questions
Which model do I upload?
A model of the thing that is to lie in the dish: a bar of soap (scanned or from a mould), a die, a phone. The tool only uses its outline; the model itself is not printed.
What do footprint by outline and by bottom mean?
The outline from above is the model's widest silhouette; the whole model fits the pocket. The bottom is a slice just above the bed; it suits things that widen upwards and should sit on their bottom only.
Which drain should I choose?
Grooves or a grid let the water through the floor. Ribs carry the bar 2 mm above the floor so it does not lie in water, and the water runs out through holes in the corners. A solid floor is for things that should stay dry.
How much play is right?
Round a bar of soap 2 mm, so it comes out wet and swollen. Round hard objects 0.5 to 1 mm is enough.
Which material should the dish be printed in?
PETG takes water better than PLA and does not warp in the heat. It prints floor down without supports.
What does it cost?
Creating the model and downloading it are free. You pay only for the print, if you order it from us.
