Holder from your own model
Your own model (a figure, a bust, a logo, anything) becomes a holder: the model is scaled to the height you give, stood on the bed, and a cavity for a can, an ice-cream pint, a bar of soap or a candle is cut out of its top. The tool measures the wall round the cavity and says when it is thin.
Material and quantity
The calculation shows the exact price and print time, and you can download the model or a project for your printer. No sign-up.
Prints bottom down; switch supports on for figures with overhangs. The soap dish has a hole underneath to push the bar out and let water drain. Cans: 330 ml Ø 66.3, slim 330 Ø 58, 500 ml Ø 66.3 taller; a 473 ml ice-cream pint is tapered Ø 80→95.
A holder from your own model: a can sleeve, a pint holder or a soap dish from your figure
The tool turns any model into a holder: it scales the model to the height you give, stands it on the bed and cuts a cavity out of its top for the thing you want to put in. Presets: a 330 ml can (Ø 66.3 mm), a slim 330 ml can (Ø 58 mm), a 500 ml can, a 473 ml ice-cream pint (tapered Ø 80 to 95 mm), a bar of soap 90 × 60 × 30 mm, a candle in a glass Ø 80 mm, or your own cylinder or cone. The play round the thing is 0.3 to 1.5 mm; the depth of the cavity can be changed and the cavity moved off the middle.
The tool measures the wall round the cavity at five heights; where it is thinner than 2 mm, it says how much to scale the model, or you move the cavity. The floor under the cavity must be at least 2 mm, otherwise the tool says what height the model needs. The soap dish gets a hole underneath to push the bar out and let water drain. The holder opens as a new file: have it printed by us, or download it.
How it works
- Upload the model. Drop a model into the field or click to choose a file: STL, 3MF, OBJ or STEP. Figures, busts, logos and anything that stands suit it.
- Choose what goes in. A can, a pint, soap, a candle or your own size; the play, the depth, the offset of the cavity and the height of the model.
- Make the holder. Click "Make the holder". It takes a few seconds; the preview switches the X-ray on so you see the cavity.
- Order the print, or download. You see the thinnest wall and the floor. Download the holder as STL or as a project for your slicer, or have it printed by us.
Common questions
How big must the model be?
At least 2 mm of wall must be left round the cavity and 2 mm of floor under it; for a 330 ml can that means a model at least 72 mm wide and 92 mm tall. The tool measures it and says how much to scale.
Will a holder made of a thin figure hold a can?
A 2 mm wall of PLA holds a can, but for figures with thin parts (arms, ears) better aim for 3 mm: scale the model up or move the cavity; the tool measures the wall at five heights.
Which cans and cups do the presets match?
A usual 330 ml can is Ø 66.3 and 115 mm tall, a slim 330 ml can Ø 58 and 146 mm, a 500 ml can Ø 66.3 and 168 mm; a 473 ml ice-cream pint is tapered, Ø 80 at the bottom and 95 at the top, 100 mm tall. Measure your own thing with callipers and give it as a custom cylinder.
Does the holder keep a drink cold?
PLA insulates little; a wall of 3 to 5 mm helps more than a thin one. For hot mugs choose PETG, PLA softens around 55 °C.
What is different about the soap dish?
The cavity is a rounded box of 90 × 60 × 30 mm and there is a Ø 20 mm hole underneath: you push the bar out with a finger and water drains away.
What does it cost and how do I get the print?
Cutting the cavity is free. You pay only for the print if you order it from us, from prepaid credit. We send the print by Packeta to a pick-up point or an address in the EU.
